Elmgrove Foods Crowned at Buckingham Palace

Stuart Dobson, Managing Director of Elmgrove Foods Limited, attended a Reception at Buckingham Palace where he was honoured with The Queen’s Award for Enterprise.

The Queen’s Award for Enterprise is the UK’s most prestigious award for business performance. This award recognises substantial growth in overseas earnings and commercial success at outstanding levels, based on 3 years trading results.

Elmgrove achieved the award in recognition for creating and exporting innovative beef, lamb and pork offal products to global customers across the world. Traditionally the majority of these products were disposed of in the UK by incineration or landfill.

Stuart Dobson, managing director, Elmgrove Foods Ltd said: “We are extremely proud to receive the Queen’s Award for International Trade. The Queen’s Awards are widely recognised as the showcase for the United Kingdom’s most dynamic companies and is the direct result of our team working closely with customers and suppliers in developing innovative products and providing exceptional sales support.”

Elmgrove Foods was formed in 2008 and employs 10 full time staff. In four short years the company created and is supplying a portfolio of 80 plus products into Africa and South East Asian countries such as Vietnam, the Philippines and Hong Kong (together comprising 82% of their total sales turnover). Elmgrove has increased its overseas sales by 217% over the last three years.

International export is the foundation to Elmgrove Food’s growth plans, Stuart Dobson advised: “In November 2012 representatives from Elmgrove Foods, Northern Ireland Government Ministers and Invest NI attended a Trade Mission Tour to China, to promote and discuss direct access for products into China. As a result China is our next targeted market.”

Elmgrove Foods Limited is one of two winners of the Queen’s Awards from Northern Ireland this year.
